Exhibition Game - DT-3 80, Central Florida 73
It appears that Nikki Teasley will continue to work out with DT-3. Not much sooner after their win in Florida, DT-3 headed to Central Florida where they won 80-73 over the Knights in Orlando.
The box score is here. DT-3 heads off to Marshall today for yet another game today - you can't say that the women of DT3 don't get their workouts.
The game writeup is here.
Central Florida led by four at one time, but DT-3 ended the first half with a 31-29 lead in front of a sparse crowd of 355. The visiting exhibition team began to pull head, leading by as much as 13 points at one time in the second half. Central Florida never regained the lead, and DT-3 cruised to a second straight victory.
DT-3's field goal shooting is still rather suspect - 38 percent compared to Central Florida's 43 percent. Furthermore, Central Florida dominated DT-3 in rebounding, 53 to 33. Unfortunately, Central Florida would have a harder time hanging onto the ball, making 25 turnovers to DT-3's 16. DT-3 also had an edge at the free throw line, hitting 17 out of 23 shots.
So how well did Nikki Teasley do? She led all players on both teams with 24 points. She was much more efficient than she was against the Florida team, taking 24 shots (16 FG, 8 FT) to make those 24 points. Twenty of those points would be scored in the second half after starting with just 1-for-8 shooting.
Erica White, a former Louisiana State player, ran the offense for DT-3. She scored 20 points and had eight assists overall. Marian Whitfield, another LSU alum, scored six points with eight rebounds.
For Central Florida, sophomore Chelsie Wiley led all players with 18 points. Junion center Marcquitta Head had a double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. She also had four blocked shots.
