Teasley No Longer With DT-3
Nikki Teasley didn't show up in the game against West Virginia on Sunday. I'm assuming that she's ended her obligations with the couple of games she played.
Hopefully, she's working hard in practice to get ready for the 2009 WNBA season.

Brief DT-3 Update
The Marshall University women's team beat DT-3 71-56. However, Nikki Teasley either
a) did not play, or
b) got no minutes.
I wonder if she'll be playing any more games with DT-3 now that the chance to play against the young lady she coached in the offesason is over. We'll keep you posted if Nikki laces up her sneakers again.

Exhibition Game - DT-3 80, Central Florida 73
It appears that Nikki Teasley will continue to work out with DT-3. Not much sooner after their win in Florida, DT-3 headed to Central Florida where they won 80-73 over the Knights in Orlando.
The box score is here. DT-3 heads off to Marshall today for yet another game today - you can't say that the women of DT3 don't get their workouts.
The game writeup is here.
Central Florida led by four at one time, but DT-3 ended the first half with a 31-29 lead in front of a sparse crowd of 355. The visiting exhibition team began to pull head, leading by as much as 13 points at one time in the second half. Central Florida never regained the lead, and DT-3 cruised to a second straight victory.
DT-3's field goal shooting is still rather suspect - 38 percent compared to Central Florida's 43 percent. Furthermore, Central Florida dominated DT-3 in rebounding, 53 to 33. Unfortunately, Central Florida would have a harder time hanging onto the ball, making 25 turnovers to DT-3's 16. DT-3 also had an edge at the free throw line, hitting 17 out of 23 shots.
So how well did Nikki Teasley do? She led all players on both teams with 24 points. She was much more efficient than she was against the Florida team, taking 24 shots (16 FG, 8 FT) to make those 24 points. Twenty of those points would be scored in the second half after starting with just 1-for-8 shooting.
Erica White, a former Louisiana State player, ran the offense for DT-3. She scored 20 points and had eight assists overall. Marian Whitfield, another LSU alum, scored six points with eight rebounds.
For Central Florida, sophomore Chelsie Wiley led all players with 18 points. Junion center Marcquitta Head had a double double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. She also had four blocked shots.

Exhibition Game: DT-3 71, Florida 62
Usually, exhibition games are to provide a tune-up for the home team, a chance for the local women's five to see how well they work together and find any problems before it's too late to correct them in regular season play. The job of the exhibition team is to enjoy playing against a big-name college team and to extend one's hoop dreams for a few more games.
What Florida didn't count on was one player who was not there for the ride. Nikki Teasley, signed by the Atlanta Dream in August, would return to competitive play on the big stage with this game. She would end up leading DT-3 in points as DT-3 undoubtedly upset home team Florida, 71-62.
The boxscore from the game is here. The writeup is here.
DT-3 started the game off with a 10-0 run, and Florida didn't score at all for over five minutes. Florida would never take the lead in the game. They managed to get close, 21-19, with 8:22 remaining before DT-3 went on a another 9-0 run. DT-3 lead at halftime 40-26 and generally led by double digits until Florida closed the gap in a valiant but futile attempt to come back in the final minutes.
Neither team shot well. DT-3 only shot 37 percent, but Florida matched that with 35 percent shooting. DT-3 outrebounded Florida 50-44, but on the offensive boards both teams would be even. Florida would have three more turnovers, 21-18. Visits to the free throw line would be even, but DT-3 would hit more of their free throws.
Leading in points for DT-3 was Nikki Teasley, with 15 points in 28 minutes of play. As for shooting efficiently, it took Nikki 17 shots (13 FGA, 4 FTA) to make those 15 points, which isn't bad after such an extended layoff.
Four players would score in double digits for DT-3. Ezria Parsons would score 3 total points, but 15 total rebounds. Parsons was a graduate of South Florida. Nalaini Miller would score 11 points with 5 for 6 field goal shooting. (I have not been able to find out who Nalaini played for in college.)
As for Florida, Sha Brooks would lead with 11 points. Three Gators scored in double figures, with Marshae Dotson leading with 10 points and eight rebounds. Aneika Henry, probably the best of the seniors, went 0-for-3 with a single rebound as a center.
What about Azania Stewart, the true freshman that was personally coached by Nikki Teasley and her brother Mike? Not bad. She only played 11 minutes, but scored seven points and four rebounds, with 3-for-4 shooting. Both Teasley's performance - and Stewart's - are hopefully good tidings for 2009.

Nikki Teasley To Play for DT3 Exhibition Team
Nikki Teasley, a guard signed by the Atlanta Dream in August - but who did not play due to weight and pregnancy issues - has found a great way to get in shape.
She's going to take the college kids to school.
Teasley will play for an exhibition team called DT-3. An article about the Florida game tonight is here. I haven't been able to find out much about them, as they have no website and boxscore information isn't current with some schools as this is only an exhibition game.
Their current schedule, as best as I could find it:
Nov 2 - Maryland - L 72-83
Nov 4 - Old Miss - L 77-45
Nov 5 - George Washington - W 71-66
Nov 5 - South Florida - L 55-81
Nov 7 - Memphis, L 41-78
Nov 7 - Florida - 7 pm
Nov 8 - Central Florida
Nov 8 - Marshall
Nov 9 - West Virginia
I don't know if Teasley is joining the team only for the game against Florida, or if she joined it with today's earlier Memphis game. Teasley, it turns out, has a Florida connection. Nikki Teasley is the brother of Mike Teasley, who is the high school coach of Azania Stewart, a true freshman on the Florida women's team. Nikki Teasley also coached Stewart during the summer, so this should be interesting.
Here are some names from the DT-3 Exhibition team:
Anita Smith-Williams - Jacksonville State
Lauren Riley-Varley - Brigham Young
Jessi Loring - Cal-State Bakersfield
Sheridan Arredondo - St. Mary's
Taryn Towns - Samford
Tyesha Lowery - Denver
Ashley Cheesman - Brigham Young
Lacey Burns - Vanguard, GA
Tiari Goold - Brigham Young
They do have a lot of Brigham Young players. If you're in the area, or just like BYU, give it a peek.
