Columnist Uses Logic, Populace in Uproar?

Jay Conley of the Tulsa World thinks that a team in Tulsa is a great idea.

My favorite line:

To summarize the situation as it stands today, one fine reason to support the inclusion of a WNBA team into the local fabric is because so many dummies are against it without knowing exactly why.

I like the article, but:

That so many people are against a WNBA team coming to Tulsa can mean only one thing: It has to be a great idea. Maybe even fantastic.

As a WNBA fan, I'd be inclined to agree with this, right? Wrong. I'm not big into this sort of contrary wisdom as it just as easily could read like so:

That so many people are against drunken driving can mean only one thing: It has to be a great idea. Maybe even fantastic.

Clearly, not.

Not to say one idea is equal to the other, but the launch pad for the article ideally could have been phrased differently, and better. And it was, as you quoted in your post.

And like the author said, WNBA-Tulsa doesn't cost the haters a dime if they don't want any part of it.
