Lehning Moves On Up

An article by Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writes about Shalee Lehning making the starting rotation of the Dream.

An excerpt:

The 22-year-old had a bigger adjustment than basketball in coming to Atlanta. Lehning is small-town. From Sublette (population 1,200) in rural Kansas, she graduated with a class of 36. It took more than just Atlanta traffic to get used to.

“My mom was freaking out because there were six lanes of traffic. I said, ‘It’s not that bad once you get used to it,’ ” Lehning said.

After several trips to the Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain and many restaurants she is not looking back. She will return to Kansas State following the season to finish her last semester and graduate in December. She might even head to Europe to play during the offseason.

im starting to think this blog site is owned by the Lehning family

I think Dream players as a whole are covered pretty well here, as is other womens basketball info. Obviously it seems there are more articles and mentions of certain players but I don't think its intentional by the author.

I'm starting to think that I am getting tired of the Latta fans getting insulted that Lehning gets to play. Pleasant Dreams is just reposting whoever puts up a blog or article, and it happens that Shalee is writing a blog for her hometown paper so each update gets posted. Is this site owned by Angel because Pleasant Dreams posts all of her blogs too you know...

Last I checked, our two point guards are ON THE SAME TEAM playing to WIN. You compete for minutes, you play what you get, and you keep competing, always wanting more. And first and most important you do whatever it takes to help your team win.

Personally I love Latta and think she has just had a couple of weak games that did not inspire the coach to put her back in. I think she will probably get serious minutes again and score a lot for the Dream. But I can see Shalee's strengths too and when she is playing solid and distributing the ball and pushing the tempo that is worth a lot too, given that we often have 4-5 players in double figures in scoring!

Anonymous 2 why did u bring Latta up? I am a Holdsclaw fan lol it sounds like u are a lil offensive there buddy I do not have a problem with Lehning...I am basing it on the obvious look at the favorite player poll she obviously has some kind of campaign going on here she is winning by a landslide over everybody

I'm a very dedicated fan of Shalee Lehning and I am not aware of any "campaign." If you met her a few times you would understand why her fans are so loyal - her impact goes way past the basketball court. Remember the poll isn't asking who you think the BEST player is, but rather who your FAVORITE player is.

I check this blog daily because I enjoy the articles and information about the women's game. I don't have time to surf all day looking for the articles, but I enjoy reading them when I find the links. I also find this blog to be a place where readers can comment respectfully and discuss the team and the game with one another.

Shalee has been a great asset to this team and we are so glad she is in Atlanta instead of LA. I bet that coach at LA still wishes he took her at that 13th pick. Their loss our gain. GO DREAM!

kansasdreamfan is right. If you met Shalee and were able to talk to her at all, you would understand. She is a very special young lady. She is quite humble and truly cares about other people. I don't think this blog site is "owned" by the Lehning family, maybe just a larger percentage of visitors to the site are Shalee's fans and followers. This is a fantastic site and I check it regularly for news. I love Shalee as a person first and then as a basketball player. I am confident that she brings more to the Dream than just her basketball skills. She is quite a motivating person and very caring about others, even if not reciprocated. Keep up the good work Shalee!!! We love you!!!
