Ivory Latta WAIVED!

Holy Shiznit. Ivory Latta has just been waived by the Atlanta Dream.

This means that Shalee Lehning has undoubtedly made the team.

Wow. Just...wow.

A quote from another messageboard: "There are going to be a lot of pissed off kids in Atlanta. Shalee better hope she doesn't screw up too much because every move she makes will be heavily scrutinized."

In the meantime, congratulations to Shalee.

I for one think this was the right move. Latta is an awesome person and a very weak WNBA player in reality. Give Meadors credit - she is clearly focused on building a winner this summer. Lehning and Miller simply were better. She got a versatile veteran backup in Miller for way cheaper I am sure than what DC was paying, and Lehning was the steal of the draft.

No NO No this cant be true no way. I want a refund on my season tickets A.S.A.P. I f*cking hate Meadors if this is true I spent $800 on them tickets to see Ivory play. How can I sell my tickets to somebody? I got something better to do with that money now!!!!!

Dude, if you are a true fan you don't buy tix just for one player. Dream are going to be awesome this summer, don't hate on the other players just becuase Ivory did not make the team...I loved Betty but I understood what they were doing...

well I guess im not a true fan then. The initial reason I bought season tix last year is because Ivory was my favorite player in college before the dream were even thought of. So yes I want a refund ASAP. I will come root for her whenever she comes to play the Dream. Im not hating on the rest of the players they are still cool but the only reason I liked the dream initially is because she came here. So F*ck Marynell. Im not from ATL so I dont care about them if my favorite player aint here. Good luck to Holdsclaw thats it!!! I am a true Ivory Fan...

Surprised and satisfied (as are a lot of season ticket holders) with the decision to waive Latta. I like the kid...really do. But it was past time she was let go.

I'm actually shocked Coach actually did what needed to be done! Good move.

It's not about one player. It's about the TEAM. ONE TEAM. ONE DREAM BABY!

I agree with anon 1...Shalee just outplayed...the girl got skills...i will miss Ivory and hope she gets picked up soon...but among people i've talked with, this was a no brainer...I'm a fan of the W and the Dream is my passion...no way i'm giving up my season ticket which is more than 800.00...i understand feelings but this is after all a business...and difficult and hard choices have to be made...jmo...been waiting for this moment all my life(a little Phil Collins) to have a team in ATL...

Ivory was def good for the dream for the one year she was there..as was Betty. Meadors has done something I didn't think she has the balls to do!! Get rid of your two leading scorers from the previous season. Betty was a cancer to the team so it was understandable her being moved. Ivory was great in the community and she was a decent point guard with a limited skill set. If she was not making the long ball we got nothing else from her. She didnt distribute the ball as good i thought she could have. From the stands you would think she was the ultimate leader and she was with words but we need someone to lead on the court!!! Great Job Meadors!!! Best of luck to Ivory some team will grab her really quick and she will do just fine. She def has a long career ahead of her!! GO DREAM

Ahhh man this cant be serious, what do I tell my two daughters now thats all they talk about is Ivory. With time she will be an All-Star this really sucks. They should have kept her familiar face they are alienating the fan base!!!

Funny to read the comments, like Latta was very good---she was quite good at the college level, but struggled with the size and speed (and height) of WNBA players. Latta's cut may cause some fans to boycott the Dream, but Lehning will lure other fans, and impress everyone with her skills.

Ivory treated her teammates horrible on the court, we all could see that. I'm sure as much of a surprise this is to everyone it is a relief to most especially her teammates. And as far as you who are not coming to watch now, you are not a true fan anyway. With this new team a whole new fan base will start coming so you can stay home.

i'm not Ivory bashing as i am language bashing...feelings run the gamuet...but to truly not see all sides is beyond me...especially the negative...Ivory will survive and come back stronger knowing there are others that are as hungry as she is...11 man roster is putting a damper on all teams...she will fight for a spot and learn and grow...her fans would not appreciate this kind of behavior and lanuage...keep smiling Ivory...

I feel you (Brittany). I'm from DC and the Dream are scheduled to play the Mystics in the season opener here Sunday and before looking at the news today and seeing that Latta had been waived I was going to go to the game. This is really shocking and oh yeah,I want be going now. I was really looking forward to seeing her play Sunday. When I saw her play in person against Maryland back in her college days she became my favorite player. I hope she gets picked up quick perhaps the Mystics, but we already deep at the guard position. This news blew me today. You don't have a lot of dudes up here into womens basketball, but for me after watching Latta play I stayed tuned in. This really sucks.

Latta may be a good basketball player, but anyone who's seen her in person knows that she is NOT a good person. Not even close! A good actress, perhaps...

:O hahaha Ivory's not a good person??? whoa if shes not a good person then why did she keep going with this loosing team last yr she didnt give up and ivory is sweet and sincre yu obviously havent met her in person cuz if yu did you would know that she isnt a actress like where u get that from?? every bball player has a acting side to get fouls called duh...not to be rude but that type of tuff ticks me off...;) (Brittany)

I am sad Ivory is gone. She has that "IT" factor and was definitely good for the team on some level. However, she has not been able to master this pro level. It is too bad. I do hope some other teams picks her up and allows her to develop a pro game. As for Lehning she deserved to be kept. She is a rookie and deserves a shot to develop at the prolevel. Ivory has already had two years. I do hope Lehning can bring what she did at Kansas State to the Dream and thereby help the Dream to becoming a real contender in the WNBA.

I was honestly shocked by this move. Ivory was an awesome player on the collegiate level, and had she not been hurt I believe UNC women would have had another national title. It just seems that after that first trip to the final four that alot of people have been hating on Latta. My only thing with coach Meadors is why do you Draft Ivory and Betty to this team, and then basically drop them like a bad habit. If you didn't want these two young ladies why did you bring them to Atlanta. I really believe that before you move people here and there and affect their lives like this you need to really make sure your making the right decision. GOOD LUCH BETTY AND IVORY. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP. I am truly dissapointed with this decision, but I will still def support women's basketball, and the Dream. Nikki does us proud, hopefully you won't be the next to be cut.

I was shocked to find out tonite, Ivory Latta was waived. I was watching a game twewen Dream and Sky-waiting to see her(Dream lost).
...now i know why?

THIS IS SOME SERIOUS BULL!
Ivory Latta did not get waived because of her skill level!!! it has to be more to it behind this because NOT ONE point guard in the league can see Ivory Latta on the court! She's YOUNG and LEARNING a lot about the league...she is UNSTOPPABLE at her best...STUPID DECISION..VERY STUPID DECISION...that coach will regret this...
What about all the other sorry girls in the league who arent even known!?? EXACTLY!
SOUTH CAROLINA STAND UP!! IVORY STILL PUTS ON FOR OUR STATE!!

YOU BETTER BELEIVE SHE'LL BE BAK TO WHOOP THE DREAMS YOU KNOW WHAT!
