2009/1 - Dream 87, Fever 86: The Best and the Worst
So let's take a look at the box score from the Dream/Fever game and try to figure out who were the winners and who were the chicken dinners....
For the Fever:
Katie Douglas: 22 points, 4 rebounds. Had four steals, four rebounds, four personal fouls and four turnovers.
Tamika Catchings: 15 points, 9 rebounds. It took 22 shots to make 15 points, and she had six turnovers.
Tammy Sutton-Brown: 15 points on 15 shots. Five rebounds, and a +12 plus/minus score.
Yolanda Griffith: 2 points on 1-for-4 shooting. A plus-minus of -9.
As for the Dream:
Best Players:
Erika de Souza: 16 points, 17 rebounds. Had a +11 in plus-minus, better than any other Dream player. I name Erika de Souza the Dreamer of the Game.
Nikki Teasley: She snuck up on us. 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. (Which contributes $40 - 4 x $10 - to "Nothing But Nets".) +4 in plus minus.
Coco Miller: Not a bad game for the identical twin. Six points, three assists with a +7 plus/minus.
The Murky Middle
Angel McCoughtry: 15 points, 7 rebounds, with 9-for-12 shooting at the free throw line. Those five personal fouls didn't help, but mark it down to rookie jitters.
Sancho Lyttle: 10 points, but it took 13 shots to do it. Six rebounds wasn't bad.
Chamique Holdsclaw: 23 points, but it took 28 shots to get there. 9-for-22 shooting, seven rebounds...but seven turnovers. Four personal fouls.
Shalee Lehning: She wasn't that great, but she didn't hurt anything for being there. Zero points, two rebounds.
Not Up To Snuff
Tamera Young: Three minutes played. Took one shot and missed it; hit only one of her two free throws.
Jennifer Lacy: It was the four personal fouls and two turnovers that hurt her. She had two points and a -6 plus/minus.
Michelle Snow: The other person on the Dream to have a -6 in plus minus. Zero points, one rebound, four personal fouls. What happened?
Iziane Castro Marques: The bad dream of the game. -5 in plus minus, 1-for-6 shooting.
