Dream Lose Game Two in Washington

I'm sure a lot of you were watching on WNBA's Live Access, where the hometown Washington Mystics defeated the Atlanta Dream 77-71. It was just a strange game all around, but at least the Dream weren't blown out by 20.

The box score is here.

We still haven't beaten Washington. Game comments most likely for tomorrow.

UPDATE: Chamique Holdsclaw tweets about the loss:

@chold1 We had a tough 2day and believe me we will learn to keep folks down once we get big leads. Back to backs are hard. We didn't play our game.

Reserves played over half the minutes. Actually beat them in the second half. Not a pretty game, lots of turnovers, but got to see the second team play a lot. Coco looked very good, Tamera did not look good at all. Angel needs to take care of ball but overall was good. Lehning needs to shoot more to keep them honest and made a few rookie mistakes. Sancho looked very good at times.

I disagree I think Tamera played ok she had a lot of effort and energy, she missed a couple of shots she can make though. Why didn't Holdsclaw play much in the second half she was 5-10 in the game? The point guard play is horrible, no offensive threat at all. CoCo did play well she was off the ball though for the most part.

If you notice the second team played pretty much the entire second half. I think Meadors decided to make this an exhibition game and rest the starters after the double OT game, both to avoid injury and also to see the second team on the court in a real game. Lehning has got to shoot more to threaten the D, and Tamera needs to shoot within the flow instead of playing 1 on 1. Point guard was fine if you don't count offense, and remember Teasley only played about 7 minutes after getting quick fouls and after playing the bulk of the game Sat night.

What Kind of coach gives away games? If she does that every back to back or rough stretch what will the record be? I agree the PG position has to generate either more points or assist

Interesting back story going on here...apparently team is pretty sure that Erika only had 5 fouls...could be a repeat of what happened with Heat Hawks game a while back if true...

From what I saw, Tamera looked okay in the minutes and role she was given. Chamique and Erika are the saving graces of this team. Coco had a very efficient game on both sides of the ball (proud of her). Sancho was okay, nothing special.

Everyone else was terrible (Angel included). If Teasley and Lehning are our point guards all season, we won't win many games...maybe 10 if we fight hard enough at the end. Point guard play was anything but fine, as there were more turnovers than assists, they didn't score, and they couldn't keep the other team's much better point guard out of the lane. Snow is useless out there and Washington is probably better off without her. Izi is clueless and very prone to turnovers.

Marynell's got some work to do. WNBA teams are good, but teams that want to be good don't undergo a 30-plus point swing and go from leading a team by double figures after one quarter to losing by double figures at the half. Sure, we were on a back-to-back, but guess what? So were the Mystics!

(COUGH) (COUGH) SHOULDNT HAVE LET IVORY GO!!! (COUGH) (COUGH)

Cough cough Ivory would still be dribbling around looking for her shot right now in the verizon center...what we needed was snow to step up and our vets to not be exhausted from double overtime and a flight up to DC at crack of dawn...

lol ok yall enough with the Ivory talk we will see in due time but I will say this, the defense does not have to even check our PG position and it is definitely our weakest spot

Anonymous who took a shot at Latta, Snow is incapable of creating her own shot. Guess what position on the floor is supposed to put her in position to succeed. That would be the weakest position on the team by far...point guard!

Maybe Latta would change things or maybe she wouldn't. That said, these two aren't getting the job done so far. With such a short season, we may have to look elsewhere because what we have now is not getting it. They're both slow and incapable of taking advantage of the strengths of this team. These guards should be nailing jumpers left and right given how keyed in defenses are on Erika and Chamique. Instead, they're just out there with little purpose outside of handing the ball off and getting out of the way, and they can't even do that without turning the ball over.

so the person who took a shot at latta uh??? every guard looks for their shots...especially on their off nights..so dont even go there...and we have a freedom of talking bout the latta situation where and when we want i can keep going until my fingers fall of...so dont go there...the dream lost becuz of them getting tired...and IVORY would have got the team hyped up and they wouldve probably won this one...but o well thats for yall to worry about...Maybe coco will pass it inside next time or hopefuly angel wont get fouled out or hopefully teasley's knees don't give out...haha like i said i can go on for days ppl..
