Russia Superleague A 4/2009 - Ekaterinburg 92, Dynamo Kursk 65

Even with the death of Shabtai Kalmanovich, life goes on. Dynamo Kursk (2-2) hosted the top team in the Russia Superleague A - Ekaterinburg (5-0) - and in front of a crowd of 850 would have ten good minutes before overcoming to Ekaterinburg 92-65.

The box score is here.

According to the only write-up I've found, the first half of the game was dominated by foreign players. For Kursk, it was Michelle Snow and Jillian Robbins. For Ekaterinburg...it was a bevy of superstars anchored by Ann Wauters. Kursk led 20-16 after the first quarter, but lost every quarter that followed by a margin of at least 10 points. By halftime, Ekaterinburg led 43-36, and by the end of the third Dynamo Kursk was down 66-49.

A look at the Four Factors:

Field goal percentage: Ekaterinburg 62 percent, Dynamo Kursk 39 percent. No need to even write up the other three factors, but I will.
Turnovers: Ekaterinburg 14, Dynamo Kursk 16. Slight edge to Ekaterinburg.
Offensive rebound percentage: Ekaterinburg 31 percent, Dynamo Kursk 28 percent. No need for a lot of rebounds when you're hitting 3 out of every 5 shots.
Free throws: Dynamo Kursk 15-for-22, Ekaterinburg 7-for-10. Dynamo Kursk would have had to have visited the line another 22 times to have had a chance to winning.

And the performances....

Ausra Bimbayte: 13 points, 5 assists from the Lithuanian player.
