Pat Summitt To Speak at Philips Arena

According to the Atlanta Dream from Twitter, Coach Pat Summitt of Tennessee is going to speak after the Atlanta Dream/Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday.

Whoa. It would be nice to know more about the event. Will she be speaking at center court? How long will she be speaking? Will she be talking to the players?

Just think. Candace Parker. Chamique Holdsclaw. Michelle Snow. Philips Arena might go orange on Sunday.

UPDATE: The official press release is linked.

there's a link on the tweet to a twitpic (couldn't paste the link for some reason?). Looks like it'll be after the game...
Maybe this one'll work: http://twitpic.com/e9duk

What would've been REALLY nice was if they let their season ticket holders know about this first before broadcasting it out on Facebook and Twitter. When will the front office ever learn?!!

It is after the game and for all people at the game. No real need to let season ticket holders know early given that it is not a private event, although I think the front office has a pretty strong track record of letting them know stuff before general public.

Pat is a speaker in high demand who is quite inspiring. This should make the game a sellout if it wasn't already!

Anonymous...you're missing the point TOTALLY. I've spoken to quite a few fellow season ticket holders and they feel the same way. Not only about this but other events. I could give you a VERY long list of fellow season ticket holders who know from experience that your statement about "strong track record of letting them know stuff before general public" is so off base that it's comical. They're doing a smidge better than last season...but still have a long ways to go...especially compared to how other teams in the league treat their STHs.

As a fellow season ticket holder both this year and last year (and not the person you were disagreeing with) I have to say I have not felt out of the loop at all and I certainly get better info from the Dream than I do from the Hawks, but that is not necessarily tough to do! Not sure what I did not hear about but it seems like I know about stuff pretty well.

As a 2nd year STH I completely agree with Scarab. The DFO is doing a little better than last year but I learn of important info from tweets, blogs and fellow fans much faster. One of the perks of being a STH is getting exclusive info regarding the team and team related events, when this doesn't happen it can leave STHs a bit sour.

Not all STHs are die hard fans but for those who know every fact and live and die with every shot asking to be quickly informed of new info when you've chosen to spend your hard earned money on what is essentially a form of entertainment is a small request. JMO

Coach Summitt will be speaking to the crowd after the game. The game vs. LA will most likely be a sell-out, as the sales force is working very hard to make it so.
