Dreamy Cake?

Posted by @hunnibee10 (Brittainey Raven) on Twitter.

My question: did Raven eat the whole cake? Save some for me!

Post Exhibition Game Pic (Damned Small)

Some little fans get autographs on the bus after today's game! on Twitpic

Another picture of the Dream, this time taken after practice. Someone got on the bus!

(Note: in order to see the picture full size, you have to quote the link. Yes, I hate these teeny-tiny pictures probably as much as you hate them, but that's how Twitter wants to work the system. Twitter wants the hits, so you have to click on the picture.)

More Training Camp Pics

A couple of pictures from the Atlanta Dream training camp (posted by @AtlantaDream on Twitpic).

Post practice stretch at Cookeville HS today on Twitpic

First, see the Dream recover from practice at Cookville High School. See all of the Dream players recovering, and see if you can find out who they are...because the org won't release a training camp roster (grumble).

Shalee playing with a little fan after practice today at Cook... on Twitpic

Second, see Shalee Lehning take on a future WNBA fan in a practice drill. A lot of blowhards like to talk about how they'd score 50 points against a WNBA'er, but I think Lehning can take this guy.

P3/2009 - Electra Ramat Hasharon 48, Dobrí anjeli Košice 43

When life is tough, go to Fridays.

For Chamique Holdsclaw's team in Slovakia, it was a rough tournament in Istanbul, Turkey as the Good Angels lost the final game of the tournament 48-43 to Israel power Electra Ramat Hasharon, the defending champs of Israel women's basketball. Dobrí anjeli Košice finishes at 0-3.

No boxscore from Dobrí anjeli Košice. No boxscore from Electra Ramat Hasharon. No nothing, except for the Twitter messages of Chamique Holdsclaw.

Chold1 Wow my team is mad at me bc I didn't look to score lol. Called my agent said the want to send me home and my knee is fine!

Chold1 Its comical 2 me but I'm so blessed! I was playin w/ 15 year olds n I have practiced once and play 3 games in a row. Been dimin n playin D.

These messages have led some people to conclude that Holdsclaw might be leaving soon. Holdsclaw is prepared for the eventuality.

Chold1 Hey is anyone interesting in volunteering for Atlanta Homeless Connect event on the 25th. @dreamwithfaith if I'm around I'm down.

Brief Musing: Holdsclaw to Slovakia?

I've been looking at some of Chamique Holdsclaw's tweets and she's taken a plane trip from Atlanta to Slovakia. It could only be two reasons:

a) she's going to play in Slovakia during the off-season, or
b) she's going to have a nice long chat with Pokey Chatham and convince her to come to Atlanta. ::joke::

Out on the Town

Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamera Young meet before Young takes off for Europe - probably at a club known as Opera ATL. Clearly, they're going to stay good friends.

I got this from Holdsclaw's Twitpic. KariWNBAFaninMi writes "Thats a nice pic. I wished she still played for Atlanta :(". Holdsclaw responds, "You and me both".

P. S. @Chold1 also has words of wisdom regarding that Russian gazillionaire buying the New Jersey Nets: "Being the wealthiest man isn't the same thing as being the smartest man."

Dream Holding Exit Meetings Today

@chold1 Just waking up. Just wanna kick it with my Moms and stepdad 2 day. I got this exit interview at 330 with the Dream then I'm a free woman.

It looks like the Dream is scattering to the four corners of the world stating today. Chamique Holdsclaw has a few things to say about it on Twitter:

@chold1 Headed out to Suwanee for this meeting which shud be quick. I'm taking my family out to eat after I can't wait.

Unfortunately, her meeting gets held up.

@chold1 Pissed these meetings have ran over smh. I got things 2 do with da fam. My meeting was at 330 and its 2 people ahead of me.

And the frustation starts to kick in....

@chold1 Exit meetings are a formal way of sayin goodbye see u nex season. Half da stuff dat is said is strait B.S. That's my opinion afta 10 yrs.

I think at that point, I'd just leave Meadors my e-mail address. "Have fun, Coach! See you next year!"

Holdsclaw Taking Part in Shootaround in Detroit

From RebKell via Twitter, Chamique Holdsclaw "twittered" that she was heading to the arena to take place in a shootaround.

Looks like Holdsclaw's chances of appearing have jumped from about 80 percent to 85 percent.

No Cheesecake

It looks like Angel McCoughtry is taking her physical fitness regimen seriously:

@angel_35 I'm so sad...I found out my cholestoral is high so I have to lay off cheesecake :(

That's okay. If we win the WNBA Finals I'm sure a lot of fans would be glad to take you to the Cheesecake Factory. Their treat.

"Just a Name"

Words of wisdom written by @chold1 (Chamique Holdsclaw) on Twitter. It's written in Twitterspeak (smh = "shaking my head") but the words are wise. (I wonder if they're directed towards one of The Claw's present teammates?)

Stop pointin da finger accept responsibility 4 ur actions that's wat a wise man does a dumb mf makes excuses. Smh Kids 2day jus don't get it. Well sum people in general. Stop thinkin the grass is greener on da other side. Thru experience I know dats not always da case.

Its funny you can be an awesome player but when ur teammates are fed up and have no respect for u its means nothing. A coach once told Teammate u walk around like ur gods gift 2 bball wat have u done As I heard this I realized she had not accomplish nothing major.Just a name.

A great player plays produces n encourages n on a bad night continue 2 encourage. All along neva bringn others down its about da team not u.

UPDATE: Commenters Gary and Scarab believe that this message is directed towards a teen that The Claw is mentoring.

AJC Article About Dream Sale Inaccurate?

According to Chamique Holdsclaw on Twitter:

@chold1 Jus talk to folks from the Dream AJC article isn't accurate. Our owner is just lookin for other investors and doesn't want to sell.

It could be that The Claw is trying to put a brave face on things. On the other hand, it wouldn't surprise me if the AJC was inaccurate when it came to the Dream - they don't even have a beat reporter assigned, and their coverage of women's sports is execrable.

If you click on this link, it will generate some pictures from today's win over the Shock at Detroit. It's good to have the pictures, because some of us were working and we couldn't see the game.

The Game One Twitter Postmortem

I don't know when I'm going to finish my writeup of Game One's amazing double overtime victory over the Indiana Fever, 87-86. The Atlanta Dream players on Twitter, however, only need to work with 140 text characters:

@Chold1 Thanks for the support! I'm exhausted after chasing around da hardest workin playa in the league Tcatch. I'm just glad we had a team victory
@tyoung11 @Chold1 Great game Big Smooth!!! @angel_35 you too rookie (lol)...

The back-to-back games - they play again today at 4 pm in Washington - are murderous.

@Chold1 Wow its 530 am and I'm tired as heck about to shower at head for airport @6. This is crazy we headed to DC game 2.
@Chold1 On the bus in DC headed to hotel. Gonna get a few hours of sleep, eat, meet for scout @ 1:15 then its off 2 the game.

Of course, there's always room for sightseeing.

@Chold1 Passing by GWU remembering all the good workouts I had there. Listening to Angel give Shaylee the full tour of dc verbally I luv the rooks

Kevin Messenger of the Indiana Fever has already posted his thoughts in his June 7th blog entry. He writes "The Dream is a bunch of thoroughbreds who, at any one time, can play an athletic center with four very athletic combo guards and forwards. They're a very good team."

Oh, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Chris Vivlamore already has his write-up finished. If you weren't there, it will give you an idea of what you missed. And you missed A LOT.

It's June, and That Means Dream Pics!

Angel McCoughtry doing a NBA TV interview.

The Atlanta Dream organization, via Twitter, have some new photos up of the Dream for you to take a look at. So get to lookin'!

* The Dream at the Discover Home Court Challenge.
* "Tennessee? Why would you want to play at Tennessee?"
* Wow. They brought everybody.
* The lucky kids.
* Running the gauntlet.
* What are Angel and Ivory smiling about?

Chantelle Anderson To Be Cut From Dream Roster

From Twitter, via Slovydal, via Rebkell:

@MissChantelle Lettin every1 know I'll b cut by Atlanta 2mrw. Sucks but thats how it goes. Dont know where I'm going now. Agent is workin on it. Packing...

Very sad. Chantelle had high hopes for a comeback. She had taken the year off, had gotten healthier, had dedicated herself to the Dream organization and created a social media presence for herself that could have been a big thing for both her and the WNBA. Unfortunately, the three minutes of play she got last night wasn't an argument either on her side or the coaches' side for her to remain on the roster.

It looks like de Souza. I don't see the Dream choosing Lehning or Gipson over de Souza.

My very best wishes to Chantelle.

Second-Hand Training Camp Notes: May 18 2009

All Eyez on Me

(via Twitter)

* We have two new nicknames for Dream players. Chamique Holdsclaw is known as "Big Smooth" and Tamera Young is known as "Lil Smooth". You have to watch out for that "Smooth/Smoove" nickname. Ivory Latta nicknamed Kristin Haynie "K-Smoove" last year, and look what happened.

* Some more pictures from Big Smooth.

** The beginning of the long day.
** Tales of the sleeping rookie.
** More snoozin'.

* From Chantelle Anderson: "Media day is taking 4ever. I just want to go home and lay down! :)"

* More from Big Smooth (I think Chamique Holdsclaw might become the Designated Twitterer.):

"Our rookies are great! They have been awesome on the first 2 days of rookie duty. They had donuts and bagels waiting for us this morning!" I think this horrible rookie hazing is inexcusable and should be reported to the WNBA, Chamique - but I'll keep my mouth shut for a donut.

* Another reason to follow Big Smooth: two "Bubble Tweets" of a sleeping rookie waking up.

Chantelle Likes Apartments, WNBA Player Gets Heckled

From Twitterer montageapts:

Meet WNBA Atlanta Dream player Chantelle Anderson at Montage Embry Hills Apartments on Thursday, May 2, 2009 at 6:30pm RSVP at 404-xxx-xxxx

Is this something done in association with the Dream, or something Chantelle's doing on her own?

And from Twitterer dakotaboy56:

Loved the 4th grader who heckled the WNBA player at school assembly today.

"Today" being yesterday, April 29th 2009. Apparently dakotaboy56 is a teacher in a low-income school district. We have no idea where this is, but inquring minds want to know!

UPDATE: About the apartments thing, we get word from @MissChantelle herself: "i don't know anything about that. i won't be there. haha thats funny."
