The DFO is Blogging Again!

Lauren Harper has a new entry at Dream Diary: The Official Atlanta Dream blog. The blog had fallen by the wayside for a long time, and hadn't been updated since February 1st.

The entry is about how far the Dream have come. It seems that the article was written a little while back, as the Dream are listed as a 7-2 team. But I'm very happy to see the Official Atlanta Dream blog back, if only for a little while.

Now Up at Dream Diary: Chamique Holdsclaw

Chamique Holdsclaw has a nice long post about what she's been doing in the off-season at Dream Diary, the official blog of the Atlanta Dream.

We get some hints of what happened in Slovakia and why the Good Angels Kosice team might have let Chamique Holdsclaw go so quickly:

When I didn’t pass my physical in October with the team in Slovakia, I was disappointed. I felt this way because as an athlete, all you want to do is compete, and for a short time I was unable to do so. This whole experience has been really humbling.

Holdsclaw decided to stay home and work on her health. She worked with Dorian Lee, her trainer, who was happy with her training and told her:

“If the doctor said you are fine and you and I know the progress you are making every day, Mique go ahead and take advantage of the opportunity.”

From there, Holdsclaw went to Cyprus where Sherill Baker is on her K. V. Imperial team.

Out of all the countries and places I have been, I like this one the most and could see myself living here. The weather is beautiful, it’s filled with people of several nationalities, and everyone speaks English. With all of that said, it makes things a lot easier when I am trying to find my way around. We work hard, but we also really enjoy life off the court too. It’s close to being home in the U.S.A.

Price Giving Ole Miss a Boost in Off-Season

Shalee Lehning isn't the only Atlanta Dream player doing some coaching in the WNBA off-season. Armintie Price comments about the success of her University of Mississippi team - Ole Miss - where she is an assistant coach during the off-season.

I am enjoying this season and the coaching perspective I have gained, but I cannot wait to get back to Atlanta! I want so badly to get out on the court and help this team but this is their moment and their season. I will continue to do my best to give them the advice and teaching that they need to get them to the tournament. And in the process, I will keep learning as a player and as a coach to be the best.

To give you a little perspective on the magnitude of my injury, Sam Bradford, quarterback for Oklahoma, had a 2nd degree sprain in his shoulder and missed most of his season… I had a 4th degree separation. Doctors say my injury is the equivalent to an ACL tear in the knee. My original plan was to graduate in December from Kansas State and then go to Europe to play in January. It appears that God had a different plan for me.

So I’m sure all of you are thinking what happens now? My priority right now is rehabbing my shoulder. I plan to stay here at KSU to work out and rehab. I’m on schedule as it relates to my progress and we are shooting for me to be completely released to play full contact in February. As of now, my shoulder is recovering nicely. I’ve been out of the sling for almost two months and can do all normal daily activities just fine without noticing my shoulder holding me back.

The season here at Ole Miss is going well. We lost a tough game on Sunday against ninth-ranked Ohio State by two points. But I do believe games like that will help us in conference play the next two months.

I'll have to catch a few Ole Miss games on TV this year, just to find Armintie Price.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving. My husband and I spent the week in Boca Raton, Florida with the Ole Miss team. We had a tournament at FAU (Florida Atlantic University) and we won the tourney!!

Where In The World is Erika Cristina De Souza Machado?

We have some more information about the off-season for Atlanta Dream players.

Dream Diary (the official Atlanta Dream blog) points us to this page, called "Where In the World Is Your Atlanta Dream?" It lists each Dream player and lists where they'll be playing for the overseason, if the information is known.

We know more about Jennifer Lacy. She will be playing for the Beijing Shougang of the WCBA. According to the Women's Chinese Basketball Association website, it appears that the nickname of the Beijing team is the "Great Wall". From what I can tell by looking at the all-Chinese symbols schedule, Beijing's season starts with a game against Guangdong on October 18th.

News from Spain: Ros Casares seems to have won something called the Supercopa in Spain. More on that when I have time to figure out what it is. Erika scored a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. As soon I can can figure out how to translate a Spanish boxscore, even more info. (I like the fact that the boxscores give the full name. Who knew Roneeka Hodges's middle name was 'Rayshell'?)

P. S. - I believe the Supercopa is a competition between the regular season winner from the previous year, the winner of a special mid-season tournament from last year, and two other top teams. Ros Casares is looking pretty damned good....

Are You The Ultimate Dream Fan?

Well, are you? Do you eat Dream, sleep Dream, vacation Dream? And are you willing to stand on a hill and claim, "#1 Dream fan, c'est moi"?

Then go to the Dream Diary, which is the official blog of the Atlanta Dream. They are looking to add a blogger as their Dream Fan Blogger. The blogger will have a presence on the official WNBA Atlanta Dream blog...and who knows where that might lead to?

Here are the rules, from the Dream Diary site itself:

* Must be 18 or older. No exceptions.
* May be an Atlanta Dream fan!
* Understand that this is not a job - this is strictly a volunteerposition. You will not receive any form of payment other than the pride of being the Dream Fan Blogger!
*You must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of not just the Dream, our players and coaching staff, but have extensive knowledge of the WNBA, including everything from the beginnings of the league to what is going on around the league today. In other words, we need an avid, “hardcore” WNBA fan who eats, sleeps, and breathes WNBA.
*If you currently work for the WNBA or are in the media and write about / cover the WNBA, this gig is not for you.
*Your blog updates will be e-mailed in and edited for content, spelling / grammar errors, etc. Basically we just need to make sure we’re keeping it clean.
*Must be knowledgeable in using standard word processing and e-mail software. A background in journalism or creating writing is a plus.
*Should regularly attend Dream home games as much as possible.
*If you already have a blog about the Dream or anything WNBA, that is also a plus.
*In ONE PAGE OR LESS, turn in an essay on why you should be the Dream Fan Blogger. The Fan Blogger will be chosen among all entries. Tips: Be creative. Demonstrate your knowledge effecitvely. Why are you more deserving than every other applicant?
*All entries longer than one page will NOT be accepted. No exceptions.
*The Deadline for turning in your essay to become the Dream Fan Blogger is Monday, June 30th @ 5:30 PM. We want to launch the Fan Blogger’s first post on July 1st.
