WNBA Caturday

Malcolm the Cat tries to figure out the Western Conference, but is unable to run an Excel spreadsheet due to paw size.

Erika Enjoying Spain

The queen of Brazilian basketball, Hortencia Marcari, seems to be on a tour to check on Brazilian players. You might recognize that styling player second from the right. Hortencia is at the far right.

Glad to see Erika de Souza looking happy and healthy. I wonder if Hortencia's next stop is Poland to check on Iziane Castro Marques?

Michelle Snow in Kursk

I believe that's Michelle Snow up front. Here's another pic of Snow.

Interesting line from a game writeup: "Actively involved in the game team newcomer Michelle Snow, who once unsuccessfully played for the Moscow club."

Holdsclaw in Her New Uni

Chamique Holdsclaw posted this new picture on Twitpic. The Claw is back! Teams in the Slovak Extraliga better stand aside!!

Choose the Dream "Photo of the Year" at the WNBA Website

If you go to the WNBA link, ten photos from the Atlanta Dream season have been selected for voters to choose from. Which one of the 10 pictures do you think best celebrates the Atlanta Dream of 2009?

Go out and vote.

(Disclaimer: I picked "Elevation". Not only does McCoughtry get some air, but we whalloped Phoenix 106-76 in that game.)

Atlanta Dream Best Photo Contest at WNBA.com

The Snap Judgment 2008 Photo of the Year contest is underway at WNBA.com. The fans of each team have a set of photos they can vote for as the best photo that represents their team.

The Atlanta Dream photos are now up for a vote. Vote early and often!

P. S. "Huddle From Overhead" might be more artistic, but I like "Atlanta Block Party" myself.

Dream Fans at Work; Will Ivory Play Point Guard?

Dream Fan at Work

Big update at Dream Diary, the official blog of the Atlanta Dream. At least 200 photos of fans (and occasionally, fans and players) can be found from the link in the post.

There are two commands for you:

a) go to the link, and
b) make a comment on the diary, because we have to appreciate the sheer amount of effort

There is also a question and answer session with Coach Marynell Meadors regarding the signing of Iziane Castro Marquez to a three-year contract extension, where Meadors explains some of the reasoning behind the signing.

The big statement:

Changing our lineup around a little bit with adding Nikki Teasley at point guard and being able to shift Ivory to two-guard, I think Teasley will be able to see her a little bit better because of her height. I think Izi can really run the floor and fill the lanes which will result in some fast break opportunities for us.

This is a done deal, it seems. If Nikki gets back in shape - a big "if" - Ivory will definitely be moved to the two-spot and Teasley will be the new point.

They also asked Meadors what Izi's reaction was to the new deal. Meadors answered:

She loves our organization, she loves the city of Atlanta, and she especially loves all of our fans.

Damn straight. So do I.

Kasha at the Line

This is Kasha making a free throw at her game with Utex Row last night. The gallery of game pics is right here. LaTangela Atkinson is #23, by the way.

P. S.: Looking at the pictures of the audience, it appears that Polish women's basketball fandom is about 90 percent men....

My Favorite Dream Pic

This is a great picture of the Dream. I've already posted it on the Atlanta Dream Message Board, just to make sure I get the names right. Better safe than sorry.

Rear row, left from right: Ann Strother (with hand on right shoulder), Jennifer Lacy, Katie Feenstra, Alison Bales, Kasha Terry, Erika De Souza.

Middle: Kristin Haynie (eyes shut)

Front row: Ivory Latta (pointing), Betty Lennox (pointing), Tamera Young (bottle), Chioma Nnamaka (pointing), Iziane Castro Marques.

UPDATE: Here is the larger photo. From the the Painel do Basquete Feminino.

Dream/Sky on 6/6/08 - Part Two

This is Part Two of a three-part post regarding the Dream/Sky game on Friday. Here are some pictures I took while sitting in the enemy section. Captions are under the corresponding pictures.

The overheard scoreboard. So who are the Dream supposed to be playing?
