It Happened Elsewhere!

Shock 77, Storm 67. The Detroit Shock (6-1) win at home, with Katie Smith scoring 33 points. Almost eclipsing the victory was the ill feeling between former Shock player Swin Cash (now with Seattle) and Shock head coach Bill Laimbeer. (Laimbeer allegedly called Cash a "crackhead", referring to her lack of concentration while she played with the Shock. Cash states it was one of the reasons she left Detroit.)

Smith, who celebrated her 34th birthday, played all 40 minutes of the game. The Storm led 21-13 after the first quarter, but they shot 5 for 14 in the second quarter. After losing the lead, the Storm (5-3) got to within 70-67 in the final quarter but the Shock scored the next seven points.

The two teams have a rematch in Seattle on Saturday.
