"And you thought WNBA Live Access was disappointing...."

From the Spanish sports site enCancha.com:

Feb.es. The website of the Spanish Federation continues to provide coverage for the day of very poor quality. In broadcasting, the actual quality of the image and position of the chambers are very poor in most games. No comments, no placards and time marker, but a deafening sound environment. Nothing more was heard of "The match of the day" of the Women's League. Too much expense for the FEB.

The alternative is the "Basketball in vivo.A good idea, if it were not for the markers are not so vivid. Often left standing during matches, and sometimes never even get started. These are failures that we suffer for a long time and remain unresolved. This neglect by those responsible for the FEB website is a reflection of the attitude of its leaders to the Women's League. It is not a money issue, is an attitude problem.

Maybe that should be the counter-argument. "It's not a money problem, it's an attitude problem." I'm going to remember that the next time the WNBA pleads poverty on something.

Brought to You by Harris Dental

Ethan at Actionless Activity wraps up the Year in WNBA hoops:

Despite the various technical difficulties it faced this year, HUGE props to the WNBA for introducing Live Access. I thought I’d see lots of the New York Liberty (disclosure: I am wearing my 2009 Liberty shirt as I type this), but I saw a great many Phoenix Mercury home games. I know all about Cash Four® by the Phoenix Lottery. I know all about Harris Dental. I don’t have a pool (or a house), but if/when I do I’ll be sure to shop at Leslie’s Pool Supply. I know all about Discount Tire. And I know all about the X Factor. Having logged so many hours watching Phoenix games, I had extra reason to want to see them win the title as opposed to off-the-radar Indiana.

...

Finally, my hope for 2010 is that we (the Grand We) are much less defensive about the WNBA and more – for lack of a better word – evangelical. Telling people they’re wrong about the WNBA isn’t going to win hearts and minds. Lamenting what new reason why The Haters™ are or will be dogging on the league won’t inspire people to give the WNBA a fresh look. Show them the quality. Take someone to a game, if you’re in-market. If you’re out of market like me, find ways to be vocal and approachable in your support. I recently wore my Liberty t-shirt to work, and some women came in from out of state who knew Patty Coyle and were agog that a man – out of market, at that, knew who the Liberty was and made the commitment to buy a shirt online.

Looks like I might have to invest in a jersey for Jersey Day at work. So which Atlanta Dream player should I be wearing? Or should I get one of those personalized jerseys with my number and name on the back?

Also: why so many Coke commercials? This is only excusable if it helps pay for Art Eckman.

WNBA Live Access Launches

It's all spelled out right here at the WNBA website:

The WNBA today announced the launch of WNBA LiveAccess, a new feature on WNBA.com that will provide fans with free access to more than 200 live game Webcasts - the league’s most comprehensive offering - throughout the 2009 WNBA season.

For the first time, fans around the world will be able to access live game Webcasts on individual team Web sites. Some blackouts of live games will apply. All of the WNBA LiveAccess games will then be archived for on-demand viewing.

“This expanded offering of games is in response to the demand from fans who have requested an opportunity to see more of their favorite team's games and more games from around the league,” said WNBA President Donna Orender. “The passion for the WNBA continues to expand around the globe, making it important to connect with our fans in-arena, on television and online. And with the level of play, the skill and athleticism in the WNBA at an all-time high, this is the perfect time to provide multiple platforms for our fans to experience our game.”

Can I get an "Amen?" Can I get a "hell yeah!"
