We Won

How many times did I have a chance to write that last year? Four?

We won our first preseason game against the Connecticut Sun, 76-73. Trust me, there will be a full post-mortem. But not right away. Busy day at work tomorrow.

I will say this. It was a lot different than watching the incompetence that marked last year's Dream. I don't know how to deal with games where we're not down by 10 in the first quarter.

Go Dream! Close game but we held on. Mique is worth every penny and trade it took to get her. Angel showed why she went #1. I can't wait for your full rundown.

To anyone who missed the game: 2008 vs 2009 is like night vs day. This season is going to be good.

I'm a bit skittish about reading too much into a pre-season game, as ideally the coaches should be evaluating talent and that may not translate into a win. Crossing over into other sports, Dave Wannstedt was big on "win at all costs" during Bears pre-season games which says it all about his storied career in Chicago.

Just the same, I do hope this bodes well for Atlanta this year.

Yeah, preseason games are not a real test, but if you know basketball then what you saw is very exciting. This team is for real, and the options they have are ridiculous. Lehning looked really good actually - I think Latta may be in trouble if last night was any indication. The defensive intensity was one million times better than last year from rookies and veterans alike...exciting stuff!

I didn't saw the game, as it wasn't nationally televised (or streamed online, to my knowledge). I'm taking it on faith that the Dream did, in fact, win, as Petrel is a reliable source. :-)
